In Black and Gold: Kevin Lyons for Yale University Art Gallery

Never one to dissapoint artist/designer/creative Kevin Lyons recently was commissioned to design the cover for the Yale University Art Gallery spring 2009 calender. In the true Kevin Lyons fashion the piece features playful charectures Lyons has been known for through his years at the helm of Stussy asĀ  well as through his work with Nike, Adidas, and Arkitip. The “In Black and Gold” artist series has been an colloaborative effort between Yale Univertisy Art Gallery and such artist as Kevin Lyons, and Parra.

Mick Boogie Presents U-N-I – Before There Was Love

The Long awaited mixtape between super dj Mick Boogie and Breakout LA group U-N-I has finally seen the light of day and is currently available for download. Being dubbed as the prequal to “A Love Supreme”, U-N-I’s debut album scheduled for release later this year, “Before There was Love” gives those who haven’t already been introduced to the phenomenal group a glimpse of the new LA. Featuring production from close friend Ro. Blvd, and the likes of Dibia$e, and 6th Sense, the mixtape also sees the duo combine with some of the west coast other up and coming artist. DJ Topspin x Waajeed – The PPP Remixtape

With such a resounding legacy left behind in such a tragic way many have continued the legacy of legendary producer J. Dilla by releasing continuous projects surrounding his notorious unreleased beat tapes. But, with so many releases it is rare to find a gem of material which translates the J. Dilla sound and gives it new light much like the collaborative project from Dj Topspin, and longtime J. Dilla friend, and one half of the Detroit production duo Platinum Pied Pipers, Waajeed. Blending classic J. Dilla and PPP material with R&B and hip-hop staples, old and new, “The PPP Remixtape” is one release that any Dilla or PPP fan can and will appreciate.
